Customer Service

At Lauren May Jewellery, we are a small family shop that likes to focus on what it's customers want, rather than shoving brands in front of them like #Pandora, #Swarovski, or #Argento. We believe that the jewellery you wear is very much reflective of who you are as a person, and shows a bit of your personality. So we look to offer a wide range of designs focussing on jewellery that is simple, but something that creates a difference. Natural stones like Amethyst, Blue Topaz, Onyx, Garnet and Amber. Designers like Collette Waudby, Lan Burkmar and Hazel Atkinson dominate our shelves.

We have customers who think of out little store as being a special place to come. We received a letter some years ago from one of those customers which I would like to read to you:

"I was in your shop yesterday and left a sum of money for your staff. At it was a very emotional occasion for me, I did not express myself very well. For 10 years before my wife died in Marc 1998, I was fortunate enough to be able to indulge her love of jewellery. I bought her many items for birthdays, Christmas and times when I just wanted her to know how much I loved her. Outside your shop we used to "dance a stately dance" when I had to "persuade" her that she might like a pair of earrings on display. More often than not we left the shop having bought a necklace and bracelet aswell. The pieces bought gave her so much pleasure that before she died she ORDERED me to leave a small token of appreciation every Christmas- she didn't mind who the staff were who might benefit. I was able to carry out her wishes in 1998 but not been able to pluck up the courage to repeat the exercise until this year (this was 2004). My visit yesterday was to makeup for those last 5 years. She left some jewellery to the doctor and nurse. The remainder was given to my grand daughter. She is only 8 years old, and I hope to live long enough to see her getting the same enjoyment which her Granny had".

The gentleman comes in every year to leave a wee something for the staff. I see him frequently along the Greenway as I ride my bike and he walk his neighbour's dog, and stop to chat to him and pass the time of day.

This story epitomises what Lauren May Jewellery is all about and shows that business is part of the community and is so much more than pounds shillings and pence. If you're ever in the shop, take pleasure in the interaction with staff, the knowledge they bring and the fact that they take the time to listen to what it is you are after and would like to put a smile on your face when you are giving a gift or wearing a piece of jewellery from the shop. The website just launched seeks to be a window into the shop of Lauren May, offering the quality of product, sometimes hand made from small designers, always at a good price, and if asked nicely, we'll always knock a few shillings off for that customer who brings a smile to our face :)
